Super League
Leeds Rhinos are back at AMT Headingley where they have blown hot and cold all season and on Saturday welcome a Hull Kingston Rovers side buzzing from last weekend’s win in the local derby (kick-off 15:00, live on Sky Sports Action).
The Rhinos have Brad Arthur in charge for the first time – and for the rest of the season, with the Australian having watched his new side lose 30-18 at Warrington Wolves last week. Leeds will need a big improvement to get the better of a Rovers side level with the Wolves behind Wigan Warriors at the top of Super League. Here are my Leeds Rhinos vs Hull KR predictions.
Leeds Rhinos vs Hull KR Tips
Leeds are the slight favourites to take the two points. They are 10/11 to win in the 80 minutes, with the Robins 20/21. You can get 18/1 for the draw, which was the outcome in this game last year when Rovers won in extra-time, and it has been a while since this fixture was anything but close.
Team News
Leeds have England centre Harry Newman and forward James Bentley back in their squad, the latter having not featured since the second round of the season with a neck injury.
Forward Mickael Goudemand is ruled out with a shoulder injury and youngster Ned McCormack has a hamstring problem. Young forward Ben Littlewood drops out of the squad.
Rovers are without Niall Evalds after he picked up a groin injury in the derby win last week, Zach Fishwick is also out, but Sam Luckley returns to the squad after concussion. Connor Barley is also added.
Handicap 3-way Alternative 3: Hull KR -6 @ 21/10
Rovers beat Leeds by 10 points at home early this year and I fancy them to nick a narrow one in this fixture.
Other than the golden-point Hull KR win last year at Headingley, the Rhinos do tend to fare pretty well at home to the Robins, but this is a Leeds team in desperate need of a service and some TLC.
The visitors, on the other hand, look every bit one of the biggest challengers to leaders Wigan and I’m not convinced that even a charged-up home crowd can make the difference for their team here.
I can see Leeds having a good go, and even hitting the front, but I struggle to see the kind of performance that saw them overturn Leigh Leopards last month. And if we see the kind of effort that saw them limp home by a point against London Broncos, then this could be another bad weekend for the blue and amber.
Ryan Hall anytime tryscorer @ 11/10
Nothing more than a romantic bet, this one. Legendary tryscorer Ryan Hall will head back to finish his career where it started when he joins Leeds next year.
The 36-year-old has remained prolific in his old age and you can bet your life he will want to put on a show at Headingley to prove he still has much to offer when he returns here in 2025.
Hall needs two tries to hit 250 in Super League and I feel he will grab at least one of them this weekend.
